Free Microsoft points?

No, this isn't some crazy scammy, seedy thing. This is an actual Microsoft rewards program. Here's the lowdown:
You need to download a Bing toolbar:
https://ssl.bing.com/rewards/signup/SEGetStarted

Then sign in with your Windows Live ID, you get 200 (or 250, cannot remember, and while I could check the link I JUST gave, I really am that lazy) points (reward points, not microsoft points, you convert reward points into microsoft points, and other rewards as well, if you wish).
Use the toolbar, and do some other offers they provide, you get more points.

Here's the catch, it only works in IE (I also heard it works with Firefox, but very buggy).
Also, I cannot get the damn thing to track my points, so it's not working for me. Their solution? Go to the FAQ, or Support. The FAQ tells you to go to Support, and the Support is...just the FAQ. Good going, Microsoft. If anyone knows what's up with that, I'd love to hear it.

I like parenthesis.

CAUTION! "FAKE" PS3 CONTROLLERS EXPLODE!!!!

http://us.playstation.com/news/consumeralerts/

"It is possible that some counterfeit product may ignite or explode, resulting in injury or damage to the user, your PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, or other property."

Yes, this is a quote from the above link. Using 3rd party controllers will cause mushroomclouds in your household.
The whole thing is quite humorous, I wonder if anyone has had any 3rd party controller explode on them since the update.

Lack of Updates

I apologize for the lack of updates. Changes in life have barred me from posting freely as I should. I'll be back soon though (I hope!)!

A Farewell to Gen IV

For those unfamiliar with the title, Gen IV is the 4th generation of Pokemon titles (Diamond, Pearl, Platinum), which were released here in 2007. These games brought radical changes to the gameplay, such as the physical/special split. Popularity for the series boomed with the coming of Wi-fi, and the Global Trade Center. In a few hours, the official release of Gen V (Black and White) will occur. This is also significant, as this is also a reboot of the series, where you won't encounter old creatures until finishing the main storyline, making the world seem fresh again. But I digress, as this is post is about the past, not the future.

Gen IV started it off with Diamond and Pearl, adding 107 new pokemon (with ability to import your Gen III pokemon), then continued with Platinum, fixing many things from the previous 2. Platinum also added many more attacks, and gave new forms to a couple pokemon. The Battle Frontier also makes a return (from Gen III's Emerald), adding a plethora of activities and unique battles within the game. The Frontier gave new challenges to even veteran players. This is all on top of the many features from previous generations (Day & night, breeding, swarms, Safari Zone, etc.).

Earlier this year was the US release of Heart Gold & Soul Silver. As the titles suggest, they are indeed the remakes of Gold & Silver (Much like Fire Red & Leaf Green of Gen III). Players were once again able to explore the lands of Kanto & Johto, as well as enjoy new features that weren't there back on the GBC. The Safari Zone that was absent from those games is available now, with several new twists. Placing objects within the different sections allowed new pokemon to appear, allowing you to customize your own unique safari zone. Pokemon from Gen III and IV that weren't available previously, are available now, even legendaries. The Pokeathlon replaces the contests seen in other Gen III & IV titles, in favor of a minigame collection involving the use of the stylus. One of the most exciting features introduced was the pokewalker. This was a special pedometer, you could load your pokemon onto, and walk with them, earning them experience as you walked. There were also minigames allowing you to earn often difficult to attain items, as well as capture pokemon. Some of these even had previously unseen movesets.

As we move to the future, we'll still look back to Gen IV. Once able to, we'll import our favorites (some even back from Gen III), conquering the toughest of challenges in this strange new land. With Fifth gen's release so close, the floodgates have already been opened, with a swarm of information already out there.

I'll be back later with more, I've got some nostaglia-ing to do.

Funny Thing

Coincidence is a very funny thing. I was in the middle of typing about how a favorite series of mine has a new game just released. That game being Phantasy Star Portable 2. And yes, I will go back and update with all of this. But, as it stands as of, oh, 3 minutes ago, I must proclaim my excitement. SEGA just announced Phantasy Star Online 2. For those unfamiliar with the game, it is groundbreaking. First online console RPG, as well as one of the best online games I've ever played.

PSO effin' 2!

Confirmed for PC only as of now, however.
Trailer is for Phantasy Star Portable 2: Infinity, but with announcement of PSO2 at the end.

Changin' it up

At first, this blog was more around GPT sites, but I've noticed I've posted almost all gaming related things. So, I changed it all up to be Game Deals n' News (and other crap too). I'll be posting more as I want/feel like it, but there will be at least daily updates here. I'll post game reviews as well, if I get cash to grab any games, that is. Watch me as I laugh, cry, and rage, all in text form.

By the way, thanks to all who follow/will follow my blog! I like to check out other blogs as well, but there isn't a need to post them with your comment, I'll be sure to check out anyone's blog who comments mine.

Demon's Souls Lightning Deal- $20

Hey there, everyone. A quick update to anyone out there with a PS3. Right now for the next 2 hours (while supplies last), there's a STEAL of a DEAL with Demon's Souls for $20. This is a deal. Really.

Demon's Souls Lighting Deal!

DMC

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/tgs-10-devil-may/704493

This is the trailer shown at TGS recently for a supposed "reboot" of Devil May Cry. I've watched this through several times, but not sure how to feel about it. I'm a huge fan of the series, but I'm not sure I like the westernization of the series. I'll wait to post my theories about this for a bit, so anyone who wants to see the trailer, can do so, before I spoil things.

Edit: Ok, posting my thoughts on what might be going on here.

1. This is not the same Dante from the other titles, but rather his son or something. Parts of the trailer show his hair mostly black, but some white in the back. That or it is him, but with amnesia or some cop-out like that. Sort of the opposite of the twist from the DMC book.
2. It's some sort of prequel before DMC3. But, this wouldn't make it a prequel, just another prequel. Here, he might not be aware of his powers yet, or not fully anyways.

Anyways, I have some reservations about this title. For one, Dante does not carry his swagger nor attitude as shown in previous titles. Black hair on Dante is not OK with me either. The worst offense that I've seen so far is....DANTE DOESN'T SMOKE! It's pointed out several times that he does not smoke at all, almost pivotal to the character (If this is a prequel, where he quits later on, this MAY be forgiven). This is just my two cents on this so far. I'm not fond of the over westernizing of the series, but I'll probably give it a chance in some form.

Also wish there was a real follow-up to DMC4, and Nero's story.
